About Devlin

Devlin Barnes has been a certified personal trainer for more than 15 years following his professional soccer career. He trains at a number of clubs and studios in the Washington, D.C., area as well as offering private in-home training.

Barnes is a NASM-certified personal trainer and has continued his education as a NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist, NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist and a NASM Fitness Nutrition Specialist. Additionally, he holds certifications in TRX Suspension Group Training, Annette Lang Integrated Stretching, Kettelbell Concepts and Annette Lang Training the Pregnant and Postpartum Client. Barnes is also CPR/AED certified.

The Bethesda, Md., native graduated from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in 2004 majoring in sports marketing. He was an All-Atlantic 10 midfielder for the Minutemen serving as team captain and earning team MVP honors as a senior.

Following graduation, Barnes was signed by the Philadelphia KiXX of the Major Indoor Soccer League. He played one season as a defender for the squad. He also had an outdoor soccer career in the United Soccer Leagues playing for the Atlanta Silverbacks, the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, the Wilmington Hammerheads before ending his career locally with Real Maryland.

Barnes’ training philosophy is to create a functional, fun, motivating workout that will challenge clients, and serve as something that can be implemented into everyone’s daily life. The long-term goal with every client is to make a healthier lifestyle change and achieve each individual’s goals.

Barnes and his wife, Barbara, live in Northwest Washington, D.C., with their son Jordan and daughter Emily.
